CHECK-UP FROM THE NECK-UP

I just wanted to officially introduce you to our second permanent program    CHECK-UP FROM THE NECK-UP  The purpose of this program is to identify early warning signs that many young people are already exhibiting in regards to mental health issues. We want to offer help early and introduce these young people to a health professional who can help them put in place practices that can facilitate them in managing the early issues, so they are not left untreated to become something that is so much harder to control and function with. There are many ways that early diagnosis and treatment can help in the advancement of mental illness. Why would we not encourage young people to get help while it's easier to manage. When we leave it, it gets so much harder. And sometimes it can just be left too late.  Statistics tell us young people, which is 1 in 4 within the ages of 15-25, do have some form of mental illness. And they also tell us that the majority of those do not get help. Do not reach out and get support from health professionals. They just live with it 😓 Our aim with CHECK-UP is to provide a fun youth survey that we can take anywhere and offer to any young person. Once they take the survey, we can assess whether they need to seek a more thorough assessment from a qualified GP. We can help make an appointment if it is needed. We can also provide a support person to accompany them to the appointment, if they have no one available to them. This is so important.  If we can provide a service, whereby young people are given the opportunity to become more aware of their mental health, and the process that is involved in getting further help, then we've all won. We are excited about this. And very passionate.  All those working within the CHECK-UP tent have undertaken their YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CERTIFICATE and have their Working With Children Check. It is always safety first. For all involved. We will usually have this program available at whatever event we are at. A massive thank you must go to our sponsor for this program BURRUN DALAI. When I spoke to Dana about this she was absolutely behind us and got everything organised immediately. We appreciate ALL your support 💙
